This was the piece I created for the Hearth Gallery at the University Hospital Llandough. It was such an amazing experience to work with the patients and staff at the hospital and use those interactions to inspire my art.
My piece is a deconstructed timeline that honors the advancements of the NHS over the past 75 years. Each component represents a different milestone. Some sections reference microscopic images of illnesses for which the NHS has developed immunizations. Others are based on photos of various body parts taken using an electron microscope. I used twenty-seven colors and multiple metallic paints to convey the celebratory element of the NHS turning 75. The Forget Me Not Flowers and Daffodil are an ode to the time my coursemates and I spent with older adults with dementia at University Hospital Llandough.
